Allyson Blake

EVENTS VOLUNTEER

Allyson grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and moved to the midcoast area in 2020 after completing her B.S. in Science, Technology, & Society at NC State University, with a specialization in Environmental Science and Food Systems. Allyson’s passion for food, people, and sustainability brought her back to the Damariscotta River where she had previously spent a season farming with Glidden Point Oyster Farms in 2019. Over the following years, Allyson played pivotal roles at Glidden Point Oyster Farms in developing both the Farm Store and event programming. This is where Allyson was first introduced to Hearty Roots when Glidden Point Oyster Farms partnered with Hearty Roots to put on Paddle for a Purpose.

Currently, Allyson works at Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust working in development, administration, event planning, and occasionally still getting out on the water to help co-manage the non-profit's oyster site. Allyson lives in New Harbor with her fiancé Keegan and beloved dog-like cat, Chowder. She feels like the luckiest person in the world when she can spend time in the woods, cruise on The Porch (a 1969 Boston Whaler Sport), cook for fun, connect with friends, and dine at Shere Punjab. Allyson is so excited to be a perennial volunteer for Hearty Roots. She believes there’s no greater time than now to listen to youth and help them build meaningful connections with themselves, their community, and the beautiful Midcoast.
