Scholarship Partners

“Your humanizing approach in trusting me to pick the fee that works for our family budget was enormously supportive. a high quality, relationship-based outdoor program that’s actually for kids who live here year-round? Hearty Roots is a diamond in the rough.” - Kelly P., Mom

we get it. Non-profit programs are strapped for cash. they depend on their program fees to keep the lights on. they can’t give away programs for free, and they want to ensure that the discounted programs that they have allotted are going to the families who actually need it. so, most will ask for families to provide proof of income. they’ll ask for tax-documents and paystubs, they’ll ask for narratives that describe the personal details of financial hardship so that they can make an informed decision.

It’s not that Hearty Roots is in a different financial position. we too operate on a tight budget and know first-hand about striking the balance between fiscal viability and affordable/accessible programs.

but we have opted to bounce to the beat of our own drum here, raise the industry standard, so to speak.

our staff team is full of parents with families, and many of us have experienced first-hand how demoralizing it feels when we have to ‘prove’ that we need a scholarship to send our kid to camps and after-care programs. our community needs good youth programs to support the holistic wellness of our kids, but we also need youth programs so that parents can make a living.

we don’t do this work alone. local businesses serve as scholarship partners. these out-of-the-box business operators know that the hearty roots team can stretch a dollar. their support makes it possible for us to say yes to all kids, all families, regardless of personal finances.
